My name is Sam Cordero. I am 43 years old. Born in Dallas, Texas I am the son of two parents that met while they were attending Dallas Baptist Bible College. My father is from Puerto Rico and my mother is from Costa Rica so Spanish was definitely my first language. I lived in Puerto Rico for a good amount of years. I’ve been speaking English since the second grade.
My family has been living here in this area for 6 years now and we love it. I enjoy a variety of sports such as baseball, basketball and football. I coached a girls varsity basketball team for the last two years and have helped with community basketball as assistant coach.
I really love the Spanish culture that I grew up in. Puerto Rico is filled with lots of amazing places to see, beautiful beaches and many great restaurants with excellent food. The people there are full of life and expression and are very big on family. They are also very inviting, making you part of their family.
I look forward to bringing that type of energy and passion for learning Spanish in the classroom, with a big splash of that Latin culture that I love so much. I hope that the students will come to see my love for the Spanish culture and all it has to offer and love it themselves.
